Frequently Asked Questions
Can I notarize a document online if I am located in another state or outside the United States?
In many cases, yes. Remote Online Notarization allows eligible documents to be notarized online from anywhere with a stable internet connection, a device equipped with a camera, and a valid government-issued photo ID that contains both your photograph and signature. Expired IDs may be accepted if they have been expired for no more than 3 (three) years. Once the notarization is completed, you will typically receive your notarized document immediately in electronic form.
Do you provide apostille services for documents issued in all 50 states?
Yes. We assist with apostille requests for documents issued in all 50 states, including vital records, educational documents, notarized documents, and many types of business and corporate records. Processing times and requirements vary by state.
Can I get a paper apostille for a document notarized online?
Yes. We can obtain apostilles for documents notarized through Remote Online Notarization. In most cases, the apostille issued for an electronically notarized document is a paper apostille that looks the same as an apostille issued for a traditionally notarized paper document. The apostille is issued by the appropriate state authority and can be verified through the issuing state's apostille verification system when available.
What if I do not have the original document required for an apostille?
In many cases, we can help obtain a certified copy of eligible birth certificates, marriage certificates, death certificates, educational records, court documents, and certain other official records before completing the apostille process.
Will a document notarized online and apostilled be accepted in another country?
In many cases, yes. Documents notarized through Remote Online Notarization can often receive the same apostille as documents notarized in person. In most cases, the apostille is issued in paper form and is attached to the notarized document. However, acceptance ultimately depends on the laws and requirements of the destination country and the organization requesting the document. We strongly recommend confirming acceptance with the receiving agency, institution, or government authority before proceeding.
How long does the apostille process take?
Processing times vary by state and document type. Apostilles for documents notarized by us in Washington State may often be completed within 24 hours. Apostilles for vital records and documents issued in other states typically take anywhere from several business days to approximately two to three weeks, depending on the issuing authority.
Do you offer e-Apostilles (Electronic Apostilles)?
Yes. For eligible documents, we can assist with obtaining e-Apostilles (electronic apostilles). In some cases, a document may be notarized online and issued with an e-Apostille the same day. Depending on the document type and processing requirements, completed documents may be available within as little as an hour, eliminating shipping delays and reducing turnaround time.
Because acceptance of electronic apostilles varies by country and receiving organization, we recommend confirming the requirements in advance. If you are unsure whether an e-Apostille will be accepted in your destination country, we will be happy to help review the requirements and available options.
Can you prepare documents for me?
We are not attorneys and cannot provide legal advice or draft legal documents. However, for Nevada matters, we may assist with document preparation services permitted under Nevada law.
